Ladies just fall short
Chelmsford City 1-1 Beacon Hill Ladies We knew it would be a tough game against a team who were yet to drop any points this season! An unlucky bounce of the ball allowed Chelmsford to capitalise and take an undeserved lead. Both teams had chances to score before the break but found ourselves trailing 1 nil at half-time. The second half started slowly with BHR frustrating Chelmsford across the park, breaking down their attacks with some smart defending whilst pushing forward with chances of our own. BHR equaliser came after Jo Smeaton controlled a superb goal kick from our ever-impressive Molly Lee and slotted home past the Chelmsford keeper.BHR had a chance to take the lead late on in the second half but unfortunately, Ella Jones' shot found the side netting. Chelmsford kept throwing everything at us but we closed down every ball and held on for a well-deserved and hard-fought point against the league leaders. Beacon Hill U13s 3 - 1 Galleywood.
A reminder of how Galleywood were poor winners a couple of weeks back was all the motivation the boys needed. Beacon dominated from the first minute of the game with everyone putting in a real shift without the ball.
The game was decided with 3 quality finishes from Oscar Tooke, Josh Hall and Ethan Webb.
As has been for the majority of the season, the win was built on another excellent defensive display, with Evan Quilter the pick of the defenders and Kodie Samler assured in goal when called upon. A real team performance all-around with the midfield managing the game extremely well. A fantastic win in the sunshine! Hannakins Farm 2 - 8 Beacon Hill U11s The U11s had great motivation for this game. Denied an equaliser a few weeks back when playing with 8 men, they also had the pleasure of being called "Posh Boys" by the opposition parents. No matter, 4 goals from Ben Large, 2 for Freddie Steffanini and one each for Joe Hazell and Callum Webb meant an 8-2 victory and another promotion. Galleywood Eagles 1 - 5 Beacon Hill U8s On the road to face Galleywood's other team. A good start with a well-taken goal from Butcher and an equalizer from the Eagles left it 1-1 at halftime. A strong performance from Rovers with goals from Metcalf, a goalmouth scramble ended up with Butcher claiming his 2nd and a well-taken goal from Pope giving us the win. The team showed great spirit, and some lovely passing and movement. Springfield Reds 4 - 4 Beacon Hill U7s An excellent game which was 4 - 1 to BHR up until 2 mins to go. Unlucky to come away with a draw but a great game all the same. Springfield White 4 - 6 Beacon Hull U7s A competitive game in which BHR showed some great attacking play early doors which saw them 4 - 1 up at half-time. Some personnel changes for Springfield forced a couple of goal-line scrambles that got them back in the game to 4 - 4 But, some excellent saves from H Simmance and 2 BHR goals including an outside the box screamer from H Purdy silenced the very excited Springfield Coach and sealed the victory. Beacon Hill U6s Another game for the Under 6 team this weekend, the return fixture with Tollebury, this time at the Hill. Another good experience for the team against a competitive Tollesbury side. The boys are keen to play more friendlies which is a good sign.
