FC BENIDORM BEACHED BY BEACON'S DOZEN
It was continental tour time for Rovers' Walking Footballers last weekend as they
headed to the Med to play FC Benidorm. Hill's match prep was not the best and a
midday ko at 30degrees gave the hosts optimism but some high quality Beacon pass
and move soon changed the atmosphere as the tourists won 12-0.
Back home Hill's Men's Development Squad made up of last season u16boys with a
couple of older heads had a great introduction to adult football beating Hutton u21s
4-2 at home. Most other Rovers' outfits were finishing preseason prep whilst the
u15boys started their Div One season with an excellent 6-3 home win over Aveley.
Other Beacon scores were the 8s beating Gt Bradford 7-0 and the 9s winning 5-1
against Galleywood.
On a sad note, news of the death of Colin Rogers has come as a shock to all who
knew him. Colin was Rovers' top striker for a decade into the 80s, always played the
game with a smile. Colin's grandson, Mikey Brewer plays for Rovers' u15s. Our
thoughts are with the family.
